After just over a year of sustained effort from our
wonderful volunteer
labour force, the third and final concrete foundation of the
building under the Stupa was poured on the 15th June. The actual
Stupa will rest on this slab.
This event represents a major milestone in the Stupa’s
construction. Now it will be possible to start work on the
Stupa itself. We include here some pictures of the latest work
including the rendering of the walls using various colored
oxides.
From early in the morning the day of the pour was full of
auspicious signs. On our arrival at the site, the most full
and intense rainbow that one could
imagine greeted us. Beautiful to behold, it created a
perfect arc over the Stupa building. Then a flock of thirty
yellow-tailed black cockatoos emerged to take in what was
going on, and just as quickly returned into the bush. Not
long afterwards a giant wedge-tail eagle flew slowly and
majestically past at tree-top height; it was so inquisitive.
This was a rare sight indeed, as they are usually only seen
afar and on high. Many small rainbows kept appearing as the
pour continued, and the day was finally capped off when a
rainbow - of the same intensity as the one which had greeted
us in the morning - appeared from the opposite direction
just as the concrete pour was completed. Whew!
