The Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT)

De-Tong Ling is part of the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT) which is an international organization of Buddhist meditaion centers, retreat centers, monasteries, publishing houses, healing centers, and other related activities founded in 1975 by Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

The FPMT is dedicated to the transmission of Tibetan Buddhism within a western context through the promotion of study, education and enlightenment. It emphasises the teachings of the Gelugpa school of Tibetan Buddhism under the guidance of our Spiritual Director Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

The FPMT is the organisation which organised the September 1996 tour of Australia by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

At present there are more than 130 FPMT activities in twenty four countries world-wide.
